Discovery Center of Idaho to host MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition from October 21, 2017 – January 21, 2018

BOISE, IDAHO – MythBusters, the Discovery Channel’s Emmy® nominated TV series first launched in 2003, is coming to life at the Discovery Center of Idaho with MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition. The original TV series inspired a generation to inquire, interact and get involved with science using experimentation to prove or disprove popular myths, misconceptions, or legends. MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition will provide the community an opportunity to do the same.

Co-hosts Adam Savage and Jaime Hyneman were heavily involved throughout the development of the exhibition to ensure guests experience a true mythbusting encounter. "It's exciting to see fans take on some of our favorite experiments from the show while drawing their own conclusions and data," said Savage. "Although they are tackling the same myths and questions, each guest can have a unique experience within the exhibit."

Guests of the Discovery Center will learn about myths, MythBusters the series, and what experimenting is all about by participating in a series of fun, hands-on experiences. Experiments cover topics such as flight, friction, gravity, speed, and combustion. The exhibition showcases:

· Blueprint Room – Based on the real-life operations room of the MythBusters’ iconic set, this room acts as an introduction to mythbusting and is filled with gadgets, props, video and, of course, blueprints used by the hosts to explore myths on the show.

· Workshop – This is the place where guests turn into investigators and use real science to test myths. Guests discover whether they get more wet running versus walking in the rain and find out if toast really does always land buttered-side down.

Discovery Center’s Educator, Robert Klusaw, says, ‘We are excited to host this exhibition because it introduces kids and families to the Scientific Method while exploring and testing your favorite myths from the show.’ The Discovery Center of Idaho is ready to throw cards, dodge bullets, and run in the rain with Idaho’s community in this exciting exhibition opening October 21st!

VIP & Media Party

On October 20th from 7pm to 9pm, the Center will host an exclusive VIP & Media Party for Discovery Center members, invited donors and local press to mingle with the people who helped develop the exhibition.

Admission Prices & Hours

Admission prices during MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition will be FREE for members, $18 for adults 18+, and $14 for youths 2-17. $1 discounts for active military and veterans. Open 10am to 5pm Monday-Saturday and 12pm to 5pm on Sundays.
