THE BUY IDAHO CHALLENGE IS ON!

This year, Buy Idaho is turning up the energy with an all-new Buy Idaho Challenge in partnership with the statewide Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge. Together, we are rallying local businesses, nonprofits, and the community to tackle one of Idaho’s most pressing issues: housing security. This is not just another fundraiser. It is a friendly competition, a chance to showcase your business, and a way to directly impact the well-being of your employees, neighbors, and customers. From donations at our Annual Reception to creative cross-promotion campaigns between local companies and housing nonprofits, the Buy Idaho Challenge is about building stronger businesses, stronger families, and a stronger Idaho.

Avenues for Hope: Strengthening Idaho’s Housing Security

Avenues for Hope is a signature statewide online fundraising campaign initiated by the Home Partnership Foundation in collaboration with Idaho Housing and Finance Association. Since 2011, it has raised over $20.7 million for more than 130 nonprofit organizations and school districts across Idaho, ensuring access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

In its 13th annual challenge in 2023, the campaign raised nearly $3.4 million for 97 organizations through generous matching funds and sponsorships. Avenues for Hope invites charitable contributions starting at $25 to support nonprofits offering housing and supportive services to vulnerable Idahoans including people experiencing homelessness, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, low-income families, and more.

The Buy Idaho Challenge: How It Works

Part 1: Businesses Joining the Buy Idaho Pot

  • Buy Idaho members are encouraged to donate $25 to $100 between NOW and the Annual Reception on October 2. Any member who donates at least $100 at the Annual Reception will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a booth at the Buy Idaho Capitol Show on February 25, 2026, valued at $200.

  • Each contribution goes into a collective “pot” that will support participating housing nonprofits.

  • Businesses can also collect customer donations through December 11, increasing both funding and awareness.

Part 2: Nonprofits Rising to the Challenge

  • Housing nonprofits participating in Avenues for Hope are challenged to connect with a Buy Idaho member virtually or in person and:
1. Interview them to learn about their business.

2. Produce an expo-style video showcasing that company and engaging in a meaningful housing conversation.

  • These stories help cross-promote both nonprofits and local businesses, amplifying outreach and building community connections.
  • Nonprofits will submit their videos to Avenues for Hope by December 8. On December 12th, which is the Buy Idaho Challenge Day, the videos will be posted to Avenues for Hope social media for cross-promotion and public viewing.
  • A winner will be chosen based on creativity, depth of engagement, and overall effort, with prize recognition awarded on December 12th.

To Buy Idaho Members:

  • Donate $25 to $100 between NOW and the Annual Reception on October 2 to join the Buy Idaho pot. 

  • Members who give at least $100 at the Annual Reception will be entered to win a Capitol Show booth.

  • Rally your customers to add to your donation. Every dollar raised supports Idaho housing nonprofits and showcases your brand as a community champion.

To Housing Nonprofits:

  • Register for the Avenues for Hope campaign.

  • Partner creatively with a Buy Idaho business: interview them, tell a compelling housing story, and produce a standout video by December 8.

  • Watch your video shared statewide on December 12th during Buy Idaho Day Challenge Day, amplifying your mission and community presence.

  • Win recognition and vital funding to strengthen your mission of delivering housing solutions across Idaho.
